The Forks Market welcomes Ag in the City – March 15-17, 2013

Ag in the City is back this weekend at The Forks! It is a free, three-day event that brings one of Manitoba’s largest industries to you –in the city. Learn all about agriculture and local foods through exhibits, presentations, activities and cooking demonstrations.  Visit the official Ag in the City website for a full listing of times and activities.

Meet a farmer without leaving the city!

On Friday, March 15 at 11 a.m. come and meet four top-notch farmers who will share their stories about producing food. Doug Chorney, President of Keystone Agricultural Producers, the organization that speaks up or Manitoba farmers, will share his Be Well Story.

Don’t miss the Student Speaking Competition by Agriculture in the Classroom at 9:30 a.m.

Bring the kids! Watch a food demo!

Kids in the Kitchen starts at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday followed by  the Food Manitoba Family Favourites cooking demonstration by Chef Mary Jane Feeke with host Ace Burpee from 12:30–3:00 p.m.

Get information on Fruit Share and Foods for Health

On Sunday March 17, Professional Home Economist Getty Stewart will take the stage to talk about her passion for Fruit Share Manitoba and the Prairie Fruit Cookbook at 12:30 p.m.

Following Getty at 1:30 p.m., Chef Mary Jane Feeke of Benjamin’s Gourmet Foods in Selkirk returns to teach us about Foods for Health.
