Have you ever wondered where your food comes from?

Stoplight Sandwich | www.canolarecipes.caKids are curious, asking questions trying to make sense of the world around them.   As a mother to two young children I get asked a lot of questions.  On top of the standard “Why?” “Do I have to?” and “Can I go play?” I also get a lot of questions about their food.

Sitting around the table I will hear “Mom, who grew this pizza? or “Did a farmer grow my salad?” or “Where does cereal come from?”

It is these types of questions that the Canola Learning Centre (CLC) likes to answer and explore.

The CLC is a free interactive field trip that gives kids an on farm experience that helps connect them to where their food comes from.  Visitors to the farm learn to identify major Manitoba crops, explore different farm machinery, crush canola seeds, ride on a tractor, sweep for and identify different bugs, and so much more.
