Pi(e) Day is March 14th!

We can come up with many reasons to make and eat pie and Pi Day happens to be one of them! Everybody loves pie, and getting creative in the kitchen to make your own creation is incredibly gratifying.

If you haven’t yet tried to make our Cool Canola Oil Pastry, this is a perfect opportunity! This cool pie dough pastry is easy for any baker to make. No experience necessary. The one important step to remember is to freeze the pre-measured canola oil the night before (go ahead and do it now, we’ll wait).  Now, this is the cool sciency bit: the frozen oil acts like a solid fat but with all the health benefits of canola oil, low in saturated fat and trans-fat free.  You can use the dough for sweet or savoury fillings. It’s just like Grandma’s but better!
