Halloween Pancakes

These Halloween pancakes are a spooky twist on our 'Family Favourite Pancakes'. Get creative using food colouring, Halloween shaped cookie cutters or free-style your designs using a squeeze bottle filled with pancake batter for a fun breakfast the whole family will love.

  • Ingredients

    1 cup all-purpose flour (250 mL)

    1/2 cup whole wheat flour (125 mL)

    2 Tbsp granulated sugar (30 mL)

    1 Tbsp baking powder (15 mL)

    1 tsp salt (5 mL)

    1 egg (1 )

    1 ripe banana, mashed (1 )

    2 Tbsp canola oil (30 mL)

    2 cups skim milk (500 mL)

    food colouring (optional)

  • Directions
    1. Preheat griddle over medium heat. Spray with canola oil.
    2. In large bowl, add flours, sugar, baking powder and salt. Mix well with a wire whisk.
    3. In medium bowl, beat egg and blend in mashed banana. Add canola oil, milk and food colouring if using. Mix well. Pour wet mixture into dry mixture. Mix until there are no lumps.
    4. Using a ladle or squeeze bottle filled with pancake batter, shape pancakes into Halloween designs. Cook until bubbles form on the top and then flip. Brown on both sides. Serve warm with fresh fruit, maple syrup or whip cream.

    Note: Halloween cookie cutters can be used to cut pancakes into spooky shapes.
