We Love to Read

This month Agriculture in the Classroom-Manitoba (AITC-M) will celebrate the first-ever Canadian Agriculture Literacy Week with students as they learn about agriculture, connect with growers and other industry “celebrities”, and understand the role agriculture plays in their daily lives!

How can you get involved?
Home: Teach your family about the driving force of our local economy, Agriculture, by reading one of the  many AITC-M approved books.  We’ve shared a few of our favourite titles below!  These books make for a great storytime and are fantastic gifts to give.

School: Are you a teacher?  Do you know a classroom that should apply?  Fill out an application form today!  You can find the form here.  The Canadian Agriculture Literacy Program requires 50 – 60 minutes of class time during the week of Feb. 26 – March 3, 2012.

Your class will:

  • Receive a visit from a local farmer or Agriculture industry person
  • Have a book read and donated to your classroom
  • Receive classroom activity plans and materials (including your very own Canola Crush Kit!)

Do you work in Agriculture?  Want to get involved?
AITC-M and Be Well invites you, it’s partners and friends to join this celebration by signing up to visit a classroom, with an AITC-M rep, or by commemorating this event in your own way.  Need ideas? Please contact us, we would love to hear from you!
