Quotes and images that are specially designed for your special friends and family.  This year, I got the coolest magnet from my BFF.

It’s so fitting for me.  I love to entertain, cook people good, delicious, soul feeding food.  So find a sign, a note, tag them on Instagram, make a craft and personalize it for your friends and family.  Let them know how you feel about them.  It will do your soul good.

Holiday Letters

I love receiving holiday letters from people!  Especially from my best friend, who sends one to me every year.

One year she did a wordle for each family member.

Inspired by her creativity and the spirit of the season, here’s a holiday letter of my own:

C – Cheers to the canola family, canola connect & all of you!

A – All through this past year I’ve worked on behalf of farmers to advocate for modern farming methods and spread the word about canola oil’s health and culinary benefits.

N – Never before have I met so many interesting people in such a short period of time.

O – One thing I’ve learned we all have in common, from farmers to scientists and chefs to health professionals, is a love of tasty, nutritious, safe and sustainable food.

L – Last, but not least, what inspires us are the relationships we make with each other, our friends and families.

A – And with that, I bid everyone, all the wonderful people I’ve gotten to know and the people who are friends I have not yet met, a safe and happy holiday season!

Hydro Hands

Cold air and extra dishes from holiday baking has my hands screaming for some love and attention. My product of choice to relieve dry hands is a lotion from Tiber River Naturals called Hydro Hands. It moisturizes and absorbs quickly so I can get onto my next task. Best of all, one of the key ingredients in the lotion is you guessed it, canola oil!

If you’re in the Winnipeg area you can visit one of their storefront locations and if you are across Canada you can order online or find a Tiber At Home consultant in your area.

Happy Holidays!

Unique Speciality Food Items

At Halloween chefs were using food-grade activated charcoal (often found in health food stores) to ‘spook’ pizza dough and cocktails. Then I had the privilege of doing a culinary food tour of the Freedom Trail in Boston where I was introduced to reduced apple cider that had the look of dark molasses and which could be used to replace maple syrup or honey in recipes. In Ottawa I found Béarnaise and Hollandaise Sauces in sealed, 160 mL jars – ideal as dipping sauces for a raclette dinner. Plus, I keep getting requests for the Irish Cheddar Stout Fondue which I made for the Irish Bunco Party. Then there’s the jar of black garlic and the mango hot sauce.

So many interesting ingredients, so many dishes to be tested, so many fascinating ingredients that I know my friends would love to explore – how will I ever plan my holiday entertaining menus?

Merry Christmas everyone!
