What We’re Lovin’ for December!

The Best of 2012

For December, your Be Well team has looked back over the past year and picked their top 2 items from 2012.  We hope you love them as much as we do!

What Ellen’s Lovin’

Grilling – I absolutely love everything on our charcoal grill “The Machine“. We have made pizza, vegetables and had ribs, roasts and steaks. So smoky and moist.

Fall Fishing – Mike loves to fish and we all go as a family. So this fall, we will be out on the water, trying to catch the big one! Watch Great Tastes of Manitoba on Oct 13, 2012 and you can hear me sing my daughter’s song that always helps her land the first fish of the trip. For great pickerel recipe, try and make the Pickerel in the Paper, it’s easy, so flavourful and healthy!

What Jenn’s Lovin’

Frozen Bananas – I love freezing peeled bananas.  When bananas go over-ripe at our house we peel them first and then freeze them in resealable bags or containers.  This way you don’t have the gooey task of trying to get the peel off your frozen bananas when you need them.  Also, you always have bananas ready to go for a perfect batch of Family Favourite Pancakes or to toss into your smoothies.

Bloglovin’www.bloglovin.com allows you to keep track of all those blogs you follow in one easy to find place.  You can sort them into categories and you an have them send you a daily/weekly email with a recap of all the latest posts.  I’ve been lovin’ this site all year long!

What Wendy’s Lovin’

Pinterest – Pinterest has been such a helpful tool for me in the past year. I have spent quite some time not only pinning ideas but also making them a reality in the form of recipes and DIY projects. It really helps me keep my ideas organized. I have gotten better at creating boards and maintaining them. For example, I delete recipes I know I will never make (such as the popular rainbow layers cake) and only pin recipes I know I will make. I’ve discovered lots of new recipes this way, including some from the Canola Growers. Check out their boards here on Pinterest.

Soups – I truly cannot get sick of soup, anytime of the year! Non-cream based soups loaded with vegetables are my favourite kind, and much healthier options. Cold soups such as gazpacho are perfect for the summer and any with spinach or butternut squash win me over in the winter.

Tell us what you’re lovin’ in the comment section below and you will be entered to win a Be Well Prize pack that includes a copy of Getty Stewart’s Prairie Fruit Cookbook!
