FUN Fitness Goals

My body always feels it’s best when my day includes some type of intentional movement even if it’s as short as 15 min minutes. In the winter, I like a mix of indoor and outdoor options. My outside winter choices this year have been a simple walk in the neighborhood, walking to the grocer with a backpack to pick up a couple of items, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. Inside you’ll find me in my basement workout corner taking in a virtual class from The Fitual Anywhere or jumping on our new Echelon bike.

My fitness goal for 2022 is FUN – Flexible, Uplifting and Numberless. Just move.

How do you make intentional movement part of your week?

Baking with Bundt Pans

Apple Chai Bundt Cake | www.canolaeatwell.com
I am a baking enthusiast and for the past couple of months, I have been having a love affair with Nordic Ware.  Bundt cakes were introduced in the 1950s based on the traditional Kugehopf molds of Eastern Europe.  My favorite thing about baking in a Bundt pan is the simplicity and spectacular results.  Pound, sponge, or coffee cake batter is simply placed into a single pan, baked, unmoulded, and glazed for a show-stopping dessert.  I love the classic Bundt pan shape, but the Nordic Ware Heritage Bundt pan is my favorite shape for now.  Do remember to oil your pans well before adding the batter.  I use my pastry brush and apply canola oil to every crook and crevice as well as the centre of the tube.

As we shared last month’s top 10 baking tools, I’m curious, do you own a Bundt pan?

  1. I have a Garmin watch that measures my steps and makes sure I move frequently (and sometimes I try to eat healthy)

  2. I exercise every day during the week, go on family walks, and eat home made healthier meals 6 outta 7 days 🙂

  3. I try to get in a walk daily, outside whenever possible and keep in contact with others several times a month to do group walks

  4. I walk about 5-6 km a shift at work and lift heavy objects which get my heart pumping. I have also changed my diet to include a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables and grains.

  5. I love my heart by exercising at least 3 days a week for an hour; try to eat healthy. On a softer note, I try to make connections with those I love.

  6. So glad that in-person ballet classes (fully vaxxed, fully masked) have started again – great for my heart, my body and my mind!

  7. I love my heart by spending time walking outdoors when the weather is good and inside on my treadmill when its rainy.
Oh and yes I love using Bundt Pans 🙂

  8. It sure has been a cold, windy winter. I am enjoying cross country skiing and walking our puppy on the warmer days.

  9. Move everyday, spend at least 10 minutes (it gets to cold to stay out longer) outside everyday and try to eat a well balanced diet.

  10. I try to follow a Heart Healthy Diet and get daily exercise! With a Family history of Heart Diseaseit is so important to me.
