Farm to School Veggies in your Kitchen

The Veggie Fundraiser

Farm to School fundraiserSince 2010, Manitoba schools and daycares have been offering the Farm to School fundraising program which offers bags of locally produced vegetables for sale.  Our school participated in the program but I heard so many parents say, “I don’t know what to do with all of those vegetables.”

Don’t worry; I’ve got the solution for you! The Manitoba Canola Growers have partnered with the Heart and Stroke Foundation to produce 13 recipes in its latest recipe book Quick and Healthy Recipes the Whole Family Can Enjoy Volume 5 and many of the recipes use the ingredients found in your veggie bag.

Parsnips, Cabbage and Onions, Oh My!

Got a parsnip and have no idea what to make with it for your family? Here is a great recipe Hearty White Bean, Kale and Root Vegetable Soup.

Why not take the bag of onions and make caramelized onions or use the head of cabbage and try Carefree Cabbage Roll Casserole?
