Plan your January Awards Party

In January we tend to change our pace from the flurry of activities of December. We’re still winding down from the holidays and settling into the New Year. It seems to be a time of year when you’re either really busy or the complete opposite.

Whatever the case may be for you, I hope you’re taking time to unwind, especially on Sundays. If you’re a fan of movies, TV, and music this is a prime time of year. It’s award show season! The Golden Globes, the Oscars, Screen Actor’s Guild Awards, the People’s Choice awards, and the Grammy’s all take place within the next two months.

These shows provide us with hours of entertainment; the red carpet, the celebrities, the fashion and the hosts of the event can be fun to watch but these shows are also are known to drag on for hours. Make it fun –pick your favourite awards show, invite some friends and family over and host a get-together. The Oscars in particular are the perfect excuse to throw a party. I’ve seen people go all out and host elaborate parties complete with movie-themed costumes and food. It doesn’t have to be elaborate, just have a little fun with it.

Take a break from the traditional Sunday meal and make a meal out of smaller, tapas-style plates for your party.
