Gifts from the Kitchen

Salt Dough Decoration | www.canolaeatwell.comAs a teacher, my favourite gifts are the ones that come from the heart. A handwritten card is my favourite thing to receive, as I know my students took the time to make it!

If you are looking for a thoughtful end of year gift for your child’s teacher, try one of our recipes in a jar!

Have your kids personalize the recipe tag and allow them to express their creative side! Here are some ways that you can make a beautiful recipe tag:

Handwritten Instructions

Add a personal touch to your gift and hand write the instructions! Involve your children in this; even if they can’t write the entire recipe, they can contribute with the title or add their own name! Try using different colour markers or pens to make it appropriate for the season.

Coloured Paper

Whether you print the directions or hand write them, coloured paper always lightens things up. Why not try a bright colour for summer!

Fun Shapes

Instead of printing your recipe on a rectangle shaped tag, try cutting it in to a fun shape. I used a giant apple cookie cutter to trace the shape of an apple and write the directions inside!

Coloured Ribbon

To attach the tag to your jar, coloured ribbon is a must! You can also try to roll up your recipe into a scroll and then attach it with ribbon or twine.
