It’s a bird, it’s a plane…it’s a Jet Funny Car!

It’s fast, it’s loud and it runs on 100% canola-based biodiesel. It’s the Jet Funny Car!

The Jet Funny Car can reach 253 miles per hour in 6.3 seconds on a quarter mile drag race track! It is the world’s first jet car running on B100, also known as 100% canola based biodiesel. The engine is a jet powered J 60P ratt and Whitney and J85 General Electric.

It’s nickname is Prairie Gold; driver of the Jet Funny Car, Kevin Therres, explains why that is in this post. Running on biodiesel makes this car not only one of the fastest Corvettes you’ll ever see, but also the most environmentally friendly. It’s the perfect ambassador for canola-based biodiesel and there’s nothing quite like seeing it live in action.

It will racing right here in Manitoba this Saturday, July 14 at the  Lakeview Resorts Thunder Jam in Gimli. The race will be at the Interlake Dragway and will include other crowd favourites such as the Grave Digger. Check out a video of the car

Have a close look at the Jet Funny Car at the Pit Party that starts at 3 p.m., followed by the races from 7- 11 p.m.
