The Farm Gates are Open!

On Sunday, Sept 16 many proud MB farmers will be opening their gates to invite folks like you and me into their workplace, home, livelihood – their Farm!

Tips for a Safe Trip:
– Wear proper shoes, not sandals.
-Make sure your clothes do not have strings, tails or excess fabric.
-Leave your pets at home.
-Follow all directions given by the host farms.
-Keep a close eye on your children.  Do not let them wander on their own.
-Do not touch or feed animals without asking your host farm first.
-Ask permission before your touch, climb or play on any farm equipment or buildings.
-Use hand sanitizer when you leave each farm.

Join Manitoba Canola Growers as they partner with the Van Ryssel Dairy Farm in the Oakbank area.  There will be hourly tours of the dairy facilities – cow barn, calf barn and milking parlour, equipment and tractors to view and a treat tent on the lawn.

On top of all that Allison and Wendy will be there helping you crush your very own sample of canola oil! Afterwards you will earn a canola shopping bag that you can load with recipes and a kids activity book.  There will also be snacks and milk for those that stop in for a visit.

Hours: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Directions:1.6 km (1 mile) East of PR206 (Dugald) on Hwy 15, then 4km (2.5 miles) North on Spruce Road to 62077 or 1.6Km (1 mile) East of Oakbank on Springfield Road, .8km (.5 mile) South on Spruce Road to 62077. GPS: N 49 55.353 W 96 49.184
