The Early Bird Gets The Cinnamon Buns

A Saturday morning indulgence of cinnamon buns and a great cup of coffee is always a special treat.  And it’s tastier when we have our sweet treat outside under the trees in the shade on a warm summer day.

I love summer and who doesn’t?  Especially the early rise on a Saturday morning is a great way to start the weekend.  When we are at home and not camping, I love going to the farmer’s markets or just to my local bakery to bring home some fresh cinnamon buns.

In Selkirk, we have two great spots for delicious baked good.  Benjamin’s Foods  and Upper Crust Bakery located on Manitoba Ave.  Each has their own specialities and you always need to arrive early or you will miss out.

If we were late, which happens, the fresh cinnamon buns are sold out and we are out of luck.  Well, only for a moment.  I can always make the Caramel Pecan Cinnamon Love Buns at home with this great recipe.

There are so many great bakeries around the province; I love Whitehouse Bakery in Clear Lake as well as Prairie Seasons Bakery when I am traveling through Neepawa.  I always stop there before my final destination of Minnedosa.  Allison and her family always go to St. Pierre Bakery and they love all of their baked goods.

Where do you go and what should I try on my summer travels?
